I’ve talked with lots of Ann Arbor-ites since starting my life coaching practice. For many of them, they’ve been curious about what a life coach does. Some common questions are:
Many of my clients have expressed similar concerns as we’ve begun talking. That’s precisely why the first session is free, with no obligation or hard sales to commit.
Would it also be helpful to know that every conversation is strictly on your terms? You are in the driver’s seat as far as scheduling and topic. My role is to be a helpful navigator, a helpful guide toward where you want to go. A long-term client said it best:
“Your guidance has been a lighthouse that keeps me from running ashore.”
In working with clients the benefits I’ve often heard expressed include getting all the “oars rowing in the same direction”. This includes things like: integrating both logic and emotion, creating actionable plans for personal and professional goals, consistent accountability, and a resonant sense of self.
Wouldn’t you also like to spend your days working toward your own dreams and desires? Knowing that at the heart of everything you do is a resolute sense of hell yes? Every session is focused around you. Each conversation builds upon the last. As a team, we walk together and explore both the logical/sensible as well as the emotional drivers beneath the surface. My role is to give you back what strengths and opportunities I see within you. To challenge as well as champion, without judgment or force. I am naturally inclined to see the diamond within most everyone I encounter. As collaborators, we can bring that light front and center.
You start with a single session with no cost or obligation. You will experience what you would in any other session with me. The framework is simple. You fill me in on what you’d like to talk about. I’ll ask short questions as they arise to my mind. We’ll stop or change direction any time you feel you need to. At the end I’ll ask what’s been helpful, and for a bit of feedback. I’ll always trust that you have your own answers. This has proven true 100% of my sessions thus far.
What if I don’t know where to start?
You’re not alone! It can feel overwhelming to talk to a life coach, and try and decide where to begin. The question I will often ask is “what would be helpful to talk about today?” What’s on your mind can change regularly!
Will I be trapped in a long-term commitment?
Nope. I strongly believe that you are an autonomous person, and know what’s best for you. I offer single sessions, and multiple-session packages. It’s 100% up to you which you decide to purchase.
What if coaching doesn’t “work” for me?
It’s up to you to define what a successful coaching relationship means. For some it’s being able to confidently make major life changes. For others, it’s breaking down and challenging habitual behaviors. If our sessions don’t live up to your expectations, you are always welcome to pause your sessions.
The first step is to try out coaching with me, and see if we are a good working fit. If you have questions before you are ready to schedule your first session, my personal email is email@example.com. I’m happy to spend the time answering anything I may have missed here, or on my What Is Coaching page of my website.
